<p>A Twitter friend showed me her yoga app, and since I promptly spent the next half an hour playing with it, I thought I&#8217;d share.</p>
<p><a href="http://abundantcreature.com/yogateacher/">Yoga Teacher</a>, by Isabel Rumilla, lets you adjust misaligned yoga poses, as practice for teaching a class! Poses are presented in 3D, and you try to identify which major joint is misaligned (feet, knees, hips, back, shoulders, hands, or neck).</p>
<p><span id="more-1237"></span></p>
<p>Once you&#8217;ve chosen, you can slide the joint back and forth to make the adjustment.</p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="425" height="344" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/e3XT9UrkFok&amp;rel=0&amp;color1=0xb1b1b1&amp;color2=0xcfcfcf&amp;hl=en_US&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;fs=1" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/e3XT9UrkFok&amp;rel=0&amp;color1=0xb1b1b1&amp;color2=0xcfcfcf&amp;hl=en_US&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;fs=1" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>
<p>It&#8217;s pretty cool to see hip rotation swiveling the whole body, or hand rotation spiraling up through the shoulders. And you can spin around the figure on all four sides, plus above and below, to get totally new viewpoints on the poses.</p>
<p>Of course there are only a certain number of adjustments you can make in the game; for example I couldn&#8217;t tell the student to lengthen her stance in Warrior I. And I was stumped by a couple poses (so I had to keep playing until I figured out what she was trying to show). But it&#8217;s really fun to adjust wildly and freely, with no fear of hurting an actual human being.</p>
<p>The Yoga Teacher app is available for $.99 in <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/yoga-teacher/id333610518?mt=8">the App Store</a>.
